Cloud Trader와 Capital Markets Community Platform

몇 일동안  미국 금융IT의 화제는 NYSE가 세계 처음으로 출시한 클라우드 플랫폼입니다. NYSE Euronext의 자회사인 NYSE Technologies가 Capital Markets Community Platform라는 이름으로 공개하였습니다. 클라우드와 관련된 솔류션은 VMWARE와 EMC가 제공하였습니다. 우선 관련기사를 소개합니다.

The Capital Markets Community Platform will offer a range of cloud-based services that enable customers to easily purchase the computing power required at a given time so they can focus on their core business strategy rather than complex IT infrastructure design and maintenance. It provides direct, on-demand access to the entire NYSE Technologies portfolio of high-performance, low-latency services including SuperfeedSM, the Risk Management GatewaySM (RMG) and Managed Services HubSM, and the global Liquidity Center NetworkSM. The Community Platform and all the related services are delivered over SFTI? with the scalability and reliability of NYSE Technologies’ regulated, transparent service model. 

“We began working with VMware and EMC with a goal of creating not only the first cloud-based platform in the financial services industry, but a completely new model in customer service and business empowerment,” said Stanley Young, CEO, NYSE Technologies. “By leveraging our global reach as a leading exchange operator and technology provider, the cloud is a key component in our effort to create a virtual capital markets community with rapid access to global markets and actionable market information. All of this comes with absolutely no hardware investment, costly infrastructure maintenance or extended time to market for customers, giving them the opportunity to focus on their core business strategies.”

NYSE가  클라우드서비스를 구축하면서 사용한 솔류션은 VMware vSphere, VMware vCloud Director, VMware vShield™ security solutions 및  EMC VNX™ series of unified storage platforms leveraging EMC FAST VP and FAST Cache 등이라고 합니다. 현재 Pico Quantitative Trading와 Millennium Management 가 시험을 하고 있다고 하네요. NYSE가 공시한 서비스 내역은 다음과 같습니다.

Memory: Will be priced out in 12-gigabyte chunks. 
Services: The Superfeed of market data and other services, such as risk management, get added in at existing rates.
Bandwidth: Comes as part of the package, when operations are housed in one of the cloud’s data centers. Linking to a site means picking and paying for anything from a 1 megabit a second virtual private network connection to a 10 gigabit a second pipe.
Competitive tack: The NYSE cloud will not try to be “cheap and cheerful,’’ like offerings from Amazon and Google, which are geared to a wide range of different
types of users, according to Barnes. The NYSE cloud will compete on reliability, specialized services, security, subject matter expertise and technical expertise, but will have “reasonable pricing,’’ not the lowest on the market.
Hubs: The first hub will be established at the Mahwah, N.J., data center, opened last year and where all NYSE markets now operate. The second will be the near-mirror center in Basildon, England. After that, “regional points of presence” will be established in Tokyo, Toronto, Chicago and Hong Kong, Barnes said. After that, Frankfurt and Sao Paulo are on the list.

NYSE가 서비스를 시작한 Capital Markets Community Platform은 Private Cloud라고 할 수 있습니다.

이미 월스트리트에서는 다앙한 차원으로  Public Cloud를 사용하고 있었고 Private Cloud를 검토하고 서비스를 제공하고 있었습니다. 아래의 사례중 NASDAQ은 Market Data Cloud라는 이름의 서비스를 제공하고 있고 Pragma는 알고리즘 클라우드서비스를 제공합니다.

사례로 든 경우를 살펴보시면 클라우드서비스와 코로케이션서비스는 다른 고객층을 지향합니다. 코로케이션서비스를 이용하는 고객은 IT적인 지식과 기술이 가지고 있고 Latency에 아주 민감한 트레이더들이라고 할 수 있습니다. 또한 비용도 만만치 않기때문에 대형회사들이 고객입니다. 반면 클라우드서비스는 좀더 푹넓은 고객을 지향한다고 할 수 있습니다. 트레이딩을 위해 필요한 다양한 기술 및 서비스를 제공하기때문에 자신들의 전략이 있는 곳이면 누구나 사용할 수 있도록 기획한 듯 합니다. 그래서 NYSE는 기술보다는 IT에 기반한 새로운 비즈니스모델이라고 설명합니다.

Already an established provider of hosted, managed services, such as its Superfeed data feed, and its Risk Management Gateway for pre-trade risk controls, the vendor – a unit of NYSE Euronext – is now providing infrastructure-as-a-service on which trading firms can run their own applications. Both dedicated infrastructure – including servers and storage – as well as virtualised infrastructure – aka cloud – is being offered. 

Responding to an ever increasing business need for trading firms to both leverage opportunities and reduce costs, Stanley Young, CEO of NYSE Technologies, says that the Community Platform is not just about technology, but rather about “IT enabling new business models to evolve in capital markets.” Cloud technologies, which are maturing, are now appropriate to deploy, he notes.

작년 말 현재 하고 있는 비즈니스모델을 기획하면서 클라우드서비스를 포함하였습니다..

트레이딩과 클라우드(cloud)

앞서 NYSE가 제공하고 있는 마켓데이타서비스, 주문체결서비스, 매매전위험관리서비스등은 ZeroDMA에 다음과 같은 내용으로 포함되어 있습니다.

마켓데이타서비스 – ZeroFeeder(실시간데이타서비스), ZeroMD(누적데이타서비스)
주문체결서비스 – ZeroMAG(주문체결서비스)
매매전 위험관리 – ZeroPRM(Pre Trader Risk Management)

그리고 Private Cloud Service와 관련한 클라우드 플랫폼은 여러가지를 살펴보았습니다. 가장 보편적이면서 쉽게 사용가는한 것은 Ubuntu Enterprise Cloud입니다.  오픈소스인 “Eucalyptus”을 이용한 것입니다. 다만 국내에서 기술적 지원을 받기 힘들기때문에 금융기관에서 도입할 수 있을지 의문이었습니다. 그렇다고 NYSE처럼 VMware와 같은 솔류션을 제안하기엔 비용이 만만치 않더군요.

얼마전 금감위가 내놓은 DMA와 관련된 규정을 살펴보면 DMZ구역에서 다양한 방식으로 고객서비스를 제공할 수 있도록 하고 있습니다. 제가 생각할 때 DMZ구간에 클라우드서비스를 위한 인프라를 구축한 트레이딩 클라우드가 가능하다고 판단합니다. ZeroDMA는 이런 목적을 위한 트레이딩 어플리케이션 플랫폼을 지향하고 있습니다.

클라우드서비스가 등장하면  PC를 사용하는 PC Trader와 클라우드를 이용하는 Cloud Trader로 트레이더의 분화가 일어나지 않을까 합니다.
