FIX Protocol과 FIX Community.
FIX는 공통이지만 의미가 다릅니다. 하나는 IT적인 표준을 뜻합니다. 다른 하나는 FIX를 위해 모인 사람들을 뜻합니다. FIX Protocol에서 FIX Community로 바꾸었습니다.
코뮤너티로 바뀌면서 하는 일이 많이 넓어졌습니다. 전산표준을 만들기 위한 것만이 아니라 업무표준을 만들기 위한 작업도 같이 합니다. 사실 전산표준을 만들기 위해서는 반드시 업무표준을 정의하여야 합니다. 업무표준을 정의한다고 할 때 최종적인 결과물중 하나는 용어(Terminology) 정의입니다. 2013년 FIX가 한 일을 보면 이를 잘 알 수 있습니다. 주로 Best Practice 혹은 Guideline입니다.
Released revised guidelines for Equity Post-Trade Processing via FIX. Actively pursued Phase 3 of the execution venue initiative to include route level message capture information via FIX. Extensive amount of work carried out on FIX support for CFTC Parts 43 & 45 Phases 1, 2, 3 and 4 for OTC Derivatives Reporting. Released initial candidates of new binary codings (SBE, GPB, ASN.1) for FIX for high frequency trading Created best practices for automated exchange of client and trader enablement information for trading bonds and swaps as well as FX spot / forwards / NDFs Extended best practices for trading swaps to include support for multi-leg cross-asset trades used within the fixed income markets, support for all major swap market models, support for the latest regulatory developments and support for the electronic booking of voice trades Extended best practices for trading bonds to include guidance on how the best practices can be used to support FIX4.4, in addition to the latest FIX version, enhanced support for US Credit markets, enhanced support for US Treasury trading on wholesale markets, supporting the auction trading model, and support for the post-trade allocations of fixed income trades to the front office. Extended best practices for trading swaps to include further Dodd-Frank SEF support.

아직 한국에서 생소한 단어이지만 기관투자가에게 아주 중요한 개념이 TCA(Transactional Cost Analasys)입니다. 미국이나 유럽에서 TCA와 관련한 시스템이나 서비스들이 많지만 TCA에 대한 표준적인 정의가 없었다고 합니다. 이 때문에 FIX가 2010년 TCA Working Group을 만들어 표준화를 시도하였습니다. 작업을 위한 첫걸음은 설문조사였습니다.
