한국거래소가 코스콤을 바라보는 시각이 그대로 들어났습니다. 법적으로 코스콤은 한국거래소의 자회사입니다. 자회사에 소스코드를 포함한 지적 재산을 넘기는 것을 비판합니다. 이런 시각은 뉴욕증권거래소가 시세정보플랫폼을 오픈소스로 공개한 결정을 어떻게 바라볼까요?
NYSE는 지적 자산인 MAMA를 공개하여 OpenMAMA를 만들었다고 하였습니다. Linux Foundation과 협력하여 오픈소스 프로젝트를 진행하고 있습니다. 지적 자산을 공유하기 위하여 Git를 사용하고 있습니다. 기술공유 레파지토리로 Git기반의 시스템을 이용하고 있습니다.

한국의 코스콤과 비슷한 역할을 하는 유명한 회사중 Thomson Reuters가 있습니다. 시세부터 주문에 이르기까지 시장과 관련한 다양한 정보를 제공하는 세계적인 회사입니다. 이 회사가 얼마전 중요한 결정을 하였습니다. 시세플랫폼인 Electron의 API를 오픈소스로 공개하였습니다.
Thomson Reuters’ Elektron API Family is a new set of four application programming interfaces (APIs), the connectors that link software applications with data and content sources. They make it easier to use Thomson Reuters’, 3rd party and internally developed data in new software applications. Developers may use the right level of API based on their application’s needs. Three of the APIs are open source on GitHub, allowing them to be adapted to fit third-party software, rather than developers fitting their software to numerous predesigned APIs. As a result, using Elektron APIs when developing software becomes faster and easier than using other vendors’ proprietary APIs, yet the APIs retain the support of an established, reputable firm that provides a market standard.
The family consists of:
• The Elektron Transport API (formerly known as UPA, or Ultra Performance API): Provides the transport layer for Thomson Reuters Elektron Feeds and Thomson Reuters Enterprise Platform. This is a rebranding and remains unchanged from the existing UPA API that has been widely used by developers of market data applications.
• The Elektron Message API: In beta now, and to be generally released in July. This is an easy-to-use, performant, open source message layer API. The Elektron Message API helps developers by allowing them to develop applications with significantly less code. It is new and will be enhanced by collaboration with customers (through GitHub) and Thomson Reuters based on customer feedback.
• The Elektron Object API: Under development now, this API provides developers with easy-to-use, open-source business objects using the Thomson Reuters Domain Models (e.g. order books, yield curves, volatility surfaces, and other financial markets models.) This API is expected to be beta at the end of 2015 and will be enhanced by customers and Thomson Reuters based on customer feedback.
• The Elektron Web API is an open-source Web sockets API for web applications. It will be released at the end of 2015 and will be enhanced by both customers and Thomson Reuters based on customer feedback. All open source APIs are being made available under the Apache 2.0 license.

OpenMAMA와 같은 듯 다릅니다. 앞서 OpenMAMA가 Linux Foundation의 플랫폼을 이용한 것에 비하여 Reuters는 Github를 이용합니다. Reuters와 NYSE가 시세표준을 두고 경쟁하는 듯한 모습입니다.
그러면 한국은 어떨가요? 앞서 한국거래소의 의사결정이 옳고 그랬는지를 떠나서 소중한 지적 재산을 받은 코스콤은 얼마전 정보저장소를 만들었다고 합니다.
기술공유 레파지토리는 코스콤에서 제공하는 각종 솔루션 및 서비스 등의 SW 관련 자산을 등록하는 ‘SW 애셋( ASSET)’, 제안서 및 사업계획서 등 프로젝트 수행을 위한 ‘프로젝트 지원’, 운영체제 및 데이터베이스 등 기술관련 자산을 등록하는 ‘기술지원’, 사내 정보를 공유하는 커뮤니티 메뉴로 구성돼 있다. 지난 5월 15일 오픈 이후 7월 현재까지 총 1407건의 SW관련 정보 및 기술자산이 등록됐다.
코스콤은 이번 시스템이 산재돼 있는 기술자산에 대한 통합적 시각을 제공하고, 유사기능의 중복 도입이나 개발을 방지해 비용 절감 효과를 가져올 수 있다고 설명했다.
또한 모아진 기술자산에 대한 통합보안이 가능하고 축적된 자산을 바탕으로 최적의 기술모델을 구현함으로써 이미 보유한 기술력이 한층 향상될 것으로 기대한다.

Repository. 말 그대로 저장소입니다. 아마도 각 업무단위로 나뉘어있고 방화벽이 처진 것처럼 접근이 어려웠던 자산을 모아서 공유하는 시스템을 구축한 듯 합니다. 아직 사내공유수준입니다. 여기서 한발더 나아가서 오픈소스로 나아갈 수 있을까요? Github에서 KRX 혹은 KOSCOM을 볼 수 있기를 기대해봅니다.
